RED Gift Money Envelope
- Worldwide Shipping
Designed to celebrate cultural occasions for the next 5 years, for Lunar New Year and beyond! The color red holds auspicious symbolism in several East & Southeast Asian cultures, including Chinese and Vietnamese ones.
The illustration - Drawn by Taiwanese American artist Irene Rex (that's me!) to feature zodiac animals of 2024 through 2028 in the lunar calendar, encouraging reuse year after year until it needs to be recycled
The gold-colored foil - Most stationery and single-use paper packages with metallic foil have the foil applied in what's known as the "cold foiling" method, which is essentially created by rolling the foil layer onto a UV-curable adhesive printed on the paper, and sometimes has a varnish printed on top to help keep foil from scratching off since it's sitting on the paper's surface.
These gift money envelopes had foil applied by the "hot foil stamping" method instead, which is more expensive (a metal die of the artwork had to be created), but SO worth it to have heat and pressure smoosh the foil into the paper with a hot melt adhesive and clearcoat layers already laminated in there! This process creates a far more durable foiled finish, and the recessed areas of foil with embossed lines around it have an amazing letterpress feel to them!
3.5" x 6.5 " size (85 mm x 164 mm)
Peel-and-stick closure (or use washi tape instead for a temporary seal!)
Envelopes, drawing, and foil stamping all made in the USA
Back is embossed with "Designed by Chroma Rex"
NOTE: A few of the red envelopes were pierced by the die near the top of the design, but are still incredibly durable and have a delightfully more noticeable tactile feel to them. Please see last photo - if this bothers you, please write "non-pierced envelope" in your note at checkout and I'd be happy to accommodate while supplies last
